Hee hee!

Sock needles are so cute! And comfy to hold. I feel another addiction coming on! But right now I'm just knitting a swatch. An adorable little pink swatch.

mmmm socks......

-Lauren
I should learn knitting socks...
Might start with legwarmers, though.
Legwarmers were actually the first real project I made! They languish in a bag, awaiting the elastic that I still can't seem to find...
They need elastic? Damn, I hadn't considered that... Oh well. I'll figure out a way to get me some when I need it. Maybe.
Well, it depend how you make them, I imagine. If you use fairly stretchy yarn and actually make them fitted it won't be necessary. Mine are too big and not very stretchy, so I need elastic to make them stay on.

Besides, you can get elastic at any craft store.
I'm not sure how stretchy the yarn is... I'll see, though. You're right, elastic is fairly easy to find, and I should be able to find instructions on how to add it.
Oh man, love the icon! Mind if I nab?
Sure, have at it. I'm not sure who made it, but I generally put credits on my userpic page so you canfind it there, should you want to.
Why not try wrist warmers on DPNs? That is the only thing I've done on them so far, but it turned out pretty good--I was pleased. :-)

Heh, the next wrist warmers are also going to be on DPNs, with cables in them--eek! I can do it, I can do it, I can do it...
Cabled wristwarmers on DPNs are totally addictive ;)
I am currently working on a very VERY simple scarf with a cable down the middle, to get me used to the whole cable thing. The only thing that feels difficult is knitting the stitches off the cable needle--so tight! It is six stitches stockinette (knit), six stitches slipped onto the cable needle and lay behind, knit next six stitches, then knit stitches off the cable needle, then knit six more stitches to end the row. The non-cable rows are stockinette.

Does it get easier (i.e. not so tight) if the cable is only 3 stitches or something like that? Also the wrist warmers I am going to do have the cable needle go in front (I can't really see how it could go in back easily!).
I've never actually used a cable needle XD Nor have I done cables on anything other than wristwarmers, actually! I use the advice from the Fetching pattern--use my extra DPN as a cable needle, and then the stitches don't tighten up, because the needle they're on is the same size as the rest of your needles.

I've never done a cable wider than 5 stitches total, so I don't know how much different they might be. I would guess it's easier, though.

I actually find it more difficult to work with the cable needle in front, but that might have something to do with how I hold the needles, I'm not sure.
I'll have to try using a DPN (as a cable needle) the same size as the needles I'm knitting with and see how that works--thanks for the tip!
